Am I Fat?

I read a great deal of posts on other sites about peoples perception of what is overweight. BMI or body mass index is only a rough indicator of whether or not you are overweight. For example, a football linebacker would have a BMI of over 30 saying he was obese, but he's a big brick of muscle with little fat. Is he obese? According to BMI he is. A better way and the only way I would use, is body fat percentage.

If you are between 10-15% body fat and you weigh 200lbs, that means you have approx 20-30lbs of fat tissue on your body. You would look very healthy and not fat unless your body decides to store some in a set of love handles around your waist.

Perception of whether or not you are overweight is all in your head and can be pushed on you by other people. TV models will show you one view, I want to promote another. When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see? Do you think you are too fat? Maybe you want to gain weight because you think you are too skinny. Whatever your perception, you have to live with you. Do not let anyone or anything tell you what you need to look like. Make that decision yourself. If you are happy and healthy at 250lbs be proud of that, if you like being 110lbs and eat healthy and are just naturally thin, then embrace it, but if your perception of yourself is causing you grief.......... change.

Only you can decide to change, and when you do, we will be here with open arms to help. Send us an e-mail and let's get started. I'm working on a 1-877 number for anyone to call and speak to someone as well. We won't leave anyone behind.

Do you want to change? Do you want to gain weight? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to learn how to be a bodybuilder? Do you want to take a pilates class? Whatever it is, let's start today and get it done. If you are not happy, get happy, if you are happy, keep it up!

YOU CAN DO IT!

Protein - A Lesson In Importance

We need protein for various body processes. In order for us to repair body tissue, heal from injury, grow muscles, keep our immune systems healthy, have good skin tone and the list goes on. So, what is protein?

Any protein (chicken, fish, lean pork, lean beef, emu, buffalo, elk, egg whites...and the list goes on) is made up of amino acids joined together. These individual amino acids are also used in many other body processes and whole books have been written on them. For our purpose, we'll keep it simple.

Most people get by on about 50-60g of protein per day. Once you start exercising and working out or even start a great cardio plan, you are no longer MOST PEOPLE, you are now an athlete in training. You need a higher intake of protein to support muscle growth, and your increased metabolism. In general, shoot for 0.5 - 1.5 g of protein for every pound you weigh if you are working out regularly. If you want to be a professional bodybuilder you would be at the 1.5g per pound level, a regular weekend warrior looking to lean out would stay at the 0.5-0.75g per pound range.

Most importantly when increasing your protein intake, you need to increase your water intake. With protein digestion and muscle growth comes the production of nitrogen. You need to flush it out with water. Aim for 3-4 litres of fresh or bottled spring water or tap water if you are lucky to have tap water that is good to drink.

If you do not have enough protein coming in, your body will get the amino acids it needs by breaking down muscle tissue to get it. This is NOT what most athletes want! It is often very inconvenient to get the protein you need from food, so a good protein powder can be a big help. If you have the time to prepare ahead though, you should do just fine without mixing powders and drinking shakes. Either way, it's up to you.

Also, the metabolic processes to digest and process protein is double that of carbs and fat, so you will use more energy in your body by increasing your protein intake. High protein can also increase HGH output in your body. You have a better chance of losing fat and keeping it off, plain and simple.

Protein also makes you feel fuller longer. This is why we advocate 5-6 small meals a day with plenty of protein. You will cheat less. Your cravings will not be as strong. You will NOT feel hungry and you will lose body fat faster. What more could you ask for?

As with anything, check with your doctor to see of there is any reason why you should not increase your protein intake. Maybe you have a medical problem where excess protein could cause complications.

Why do we need motivation?

I think that many of us focus on failure more than we focus on striving for success. As human beings we feel the need to be accepted into a group, nurtured by friends and family, loved, respected and feel we have a purpose. We also tend to get motivation from what we see others doing.

It just feels great to have someone in your corner! It rocks to have someone, a live someone you can e-mail or call and get the answers your looking for. We are all unique, we are all important. Like I said before, nobody gets left behind. E-mail today and it is free until August 1st, after that it is $19.95 a month for anyone who e-mails me before that. However, if you really can't afford it, please e-mail me and we will find a solution to fit what you can afford. Nobody gets left behind. I am devoting hours and hours of my time to help all of you.

Enjoy your day and embrace life.

Exercise Tips and Tricks

Squatting with a bar across your back is much more likely to injure your back. Hold the bar in front (Front Squat). You will have to use less weight to start as you get used to it, but you will notice less back strain and more emphasis on your quads.

Pushups on an exercise ball or swiss ball help stabilize your shoulder area. This is a great alternative for people with shoulder problems. If you can't start on your toes, then start doing pushups on your knees. The point is to START! Start little, small changes over time lead to big results in the end.

Do your biceps curls with dumbbells or bars with your back against the wall to isolate your biceps and get better results.

A study showed that drinking mint tea reduces inflamation and oxidative stress of diabetes by 52%. Google hesperitin and find out why, it is found in mint tea.

It is mail only and no phone number. Google it and you won't find any info on them. Google the product they are selling and apparently it used to be called CiTrex. Metabolism : Explained In English!!

Who here knows what metabolism is and how could you explain it to just about anyone? Jeez, that's tough. The easiest way I know how to explain what your metabolism is, is as follows.

We all know that gasoline is the fuel that makes an engine go. When you drive fast, you use more gas, when you drive slow, you use less gas. If you just let the engine idle in the driveway, it will do so for a very long time, provided that you have enough gas. It will burn gas for a certain amount of time before the engine stalls. This is where the analogy stops.

Your body is the same way. If you sit there, you need less fuel (food), if you start running, your metabolism (engine) needs more fuel (food). That's as simple as it gets. So, if your metabolism is slow (someone who gains weight easily) you needs to reduce your food intake to compensate or increase your metabolism through exercise and activity. We all know the skinny guy who eats like a horse and never gains weight, that is someone who has a very fast metabolism. The body is able to burn off the food without needing to store it as fat.

When we get fatter, we are eating to much or eating too much at the same time. If you were to eat three big macs for lunch you would have a much higher chance of some of that turning into body fat as if you were to cut them in half and eat them at six different times of the day. Why? Your body can only use a certain amount of food at a time, if you eat too much, it will most likely store it as body fat. So, how do you know if you are eating too much? That's what you will learn in our Phoenix Bodystyling assessment, in the privacy of your home, at your table, for FREE. Starting August 1, 2008. E-mail to book your appointment now! If you are unable to or live too far away, read on.

Basically, we all need 1200 calories a day to survive. The more you do, the more you need to eat, in 5-8 smaller meals spread over the day. Most of us would do well with 5 meals at about 300-400 calories per meal. These meals need to be balanced between carbohydrates, protein and fat. In my next post, I will begin to explain these.

Until next time!

LA WEIGHT LOSS............UM FINANCE YOUR DIET?

Hey folks! I was touring around the LA WEIGHT LOSS website and was looking for financial information. Most will not publish costs as they do not want you to know how expensive they are. Like MOST, there was no actual information on pricing, but on their FAQ's page there was this:

http://www.la-weightloss.com/difference/faq.aspx
"Your total cost is determined by a number of factors: a) there are several basic program packages designed to fit into your budget as well as a number of finance options; b) how much weight you want to lose; and c) your personal profile plays a key role in which program, menu plan, etc., is right for you. Some centers even offer trial programs. You can obtain the most accurate price by scheduling a free consultation with an LA Weight Loss counselor at your local center. It takes only 20 minutes and there's no obligation. Working together, you'll be able to determine the precise cost of your program."

OK, let's dissect that...."a number of finance options".......hmmmm so, do you want to go into debt to lose weight. Honestly, you don't have to, e-mail me and we'll get you on the right path, and you won't have to mortgage your house to do so. Trial programs are nice..... usually one visit to a group meeting. How about this. If you e-mail me and are serious, on August 1, 2008 I will be accepting 100 clients into my program at a very, very special price. All I can say is it will be under $50 a month. Look for it. For right now, I will offer FREE e-mail support to anyone who wants it until August 1, 2008. At that time the normal $9.00 monthly fee will be offered to only the people who e-mailed before August 1, 2008 for $4.50 a month. Lastly, LA WEIGHT LOSS is talking about a 20 minute visit to be assessed. NOPE! SORRY, a good assessment should be 45 minutes to 90 minutes. And of course, with Phoenix Bodystyling, we will begin this process August 1, 2008 for FREE.

No payment plans, we work with you and what you can afford. So, e-mail me and get unlimited e-mail support for $4.50 a month until August 1, 2008. After August 1, 2008 it will be $9.00. E-mail today for all of the details. Remember, e-mail me before then and it is FREE until August 1, 2008, so you have all of June and all of July for FREE. You could lose 20lbs or more by then or firm up and build muscle or at least get the motivation you need to succeed. I will not leave anyone stranded. If $4.50 is still too expensive, e-mail me and we can work something out. Nobody gets left behind.

If you intend on wasting your money....send it to me.

OK, put down the credit cards, put down the 1-888-ord-erme numbers and back away from the infomercials!! The diet and fitness industry is hell bent on making sure that your 1986 Hyundai stays in the driveway and you spend $600 a month on supplements and membership fees in order to look your best........ somehow they never seem to work as described on the TV! WOW! "My god Jim, I'm a doctor not a miracle worker!"

The multi-billion dollar supplement industry (herbal or prepared food products) wants you to keep buying to keep supporting them. What would you say, if I told you........ "They are all full of crap!" How many people things that Jay Cutler (current IFBB Mr.Olympia) uses all of the products he endorses? How many people are starting to realize that even though with all of the miracle products on the shelves....... we're still getting further and further out of shape! How many of you are like me and have tried "everything" and not got very far? Let me tell you right now that with the exception of Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers, most of the other weight loss companies can stick it up their..........

There are only three things that your body needs, water, proper nutrition and exercise in order to be happy and healthy. These are all things we need to actively do. I do not include breathing as it just happens, we do not make ourselves breathe.

I am probably more like you than you may think. I love eating, I love sugary snacks, I love potato chips and I really love anything deep fried and coated in salt or chocolate. In a world like ours where everything is fast and fat.....how do we cope? How do we stay on the straight and narrow? This is where PHOENIX BODYSTYLING comes into play in your life.

We do not charge very much for our services. Nobody here wants to get rich quick or take you for a ride and leave you with nothing. We are hell bent on making you reach your goals and we do it like nobody else. Here's why!

1) Everything is customized for you. No out of the box, one size fits all here, that does not work.
2) Support everyday from day one! If you need a question answered, just ask. We will answer you right away or usually within 30 minutes. E-mail, telephone or carrier pigeon if we have to.
3) No products to buy! NO PRODUCTS TO BUY! We bring everything with us and take it away when were done.
4) No supplements, vitamins or magical herbal remedies to buy.
4) Affordability........no more $100 or $500 or even $1000 a month to spend. Our services start at $4.95 a question. YES....... $4.95 Our e-mail support starts at $19.95 a month.

In approximately 90 days, we will begin to launch our programs to the public and we expect a huge response. Imagine a company that cares as much about you and we do ourselves. That is something that is almost unheard of today.

So, check back often. There will be training sections, nutrition sections, recipe sections and many good things to come. All of this of course............ is FREE. Enjoy and post comments, we try to reply to everyone.
